CE Survey Final Report [pdf, 23 pages]
The Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS) Continuing Education (CE) Team developed and conducted a survey to assist in planning relevant and convenient continuing education programs for the RI library community. The survey was available online from May 31 until June 23, 2006 and was announced through various email lists and the OLIS web site.
A total of 154 responses, representing 7 types of libaries, were received. Public librarians were the most numerous respondents, representing nearly 2/3 of the total number of responses. The survey included questions about preferred times and instructional methods, topics for continuing education, attendance, and other sources for continuing education.
The most requested topics for continuing education included Information Technology and Software, Public Library Services, Reference Services, and Web Development and Web Tools. To learn about the specific topics requested in these broad topic areas and other selected facts, check out the Survey Overview. For complete results of the survey, download the Final Report [pdf, 23 pages].
The OLIS CE Team has reviewed the results of the survey and is planning programs in response to some of the needs identified by survey respondents. We will also continue to offer popular CE programs such as the Children's Services Brown Bag CE Discussion Series, Reference Round Table, and the Young Adult Round Table. Please see the Schedule for current CE offerings.
OLIS welcomes feedback on the survey responses and OLIS CE. Comments may be posted on Rhodarian in response to Continuing Education Survey.
