The Office of Library and Information Services collects and analyzes financial, service and staffing data from Rhode Island public libraries on an annual basis through the Public Library Annual Survey. The survey is administered using the Counting Opinions LibPAS online survey tool. The Public Library Annual Survey also serves as the certification and application process for State Aid to Libraries, often referred to as Grant-in-Aid. Public libraries applying for State Aid to Libraries must submit the Public Library Annual Report each year.
Data from the Public Library Annual Survey is available publicly in the Comparable Statistics section of the OLIS website. The most current year's data available is fiscal year 2016.
The FY2017 survey is now closed. The survey was open for data entry from Monday July 17, 2017 and closed Friday September 15, 2017 at 4:00pm. All supporting forms and documentation were to be submitted to the OLIS office by that date as well.
